Kate is a NYC-based theatre artist, songwriter and performer who seeks to challenge audiences about the limits of their world and empower them to make change.
Her music has been performed at Ars Nova, Joe’s Pub, The McKittrick Hotel, Links Hall (Chicago) and the Korzo Theater (the Netherlands) and by artists such as Todd Almond, PigPen Theatre Co., Shaina Taub and Kiah Victoria. She is a Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project Fellow, and her first EP, The Blue House, is available now.
As a playwright, her work has been developed at The National Theater Institute, Artemisia Theatre, HERE Arts Center and the Writer’s Colony at Goodspeed. She has been awarded the National Society of Arts and Letters’ Lavinia Kohl Award and the NJ Young Playwrights Award, and her poetry has been published in Burningword Literary Journal and Contrary Magazine.
Recent performance credits include Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More, Third Rail’s The Grand Paradise, Kansas City Choir Boy starring Courtney Love and Todd Almond (Premiere and Tour) and Fernando Rubio’s Everything by my side (U.S. Premiere).
As a teaching artist, she has trained with Musicians Without Borders in Advanced Community Music and Gibney Dance’s Institute of Community Music. She has taught master classes at the National Theatre Institute and will be participating in the Juno Leadership Residency at the Omega Institute this spring.
In 2017 she was awarded a residency at Gibney Dance to develop a new piece of dance theatre dealing with death and privilege in the modern age.
As a complement to her artistic practice, she has recently begun studying Herbalism at the Gaia School of Healing in Vermont.
